Medial Patellar Luxation is a common cause of lameness in small and toy breeds of dog. The following is a live video of a Trochlear Wedge Recession Surgery in progress. The groove in which the Patella (knee cap) sits will be deepened to allow the Patella to reside more deeply in the Patellar groove in the femur, so it is less likely to luxate (dislocate) medially.
